Cooking instructions are included only on our physical packaging, but here is more information on heating and freezing your delicious Thistle meals! You can also check out our blog post here.
Heating Thistle Meals:
All of our meals can be eaten cold, but some of our food is even tastier heated up! The majority of our lunches are salads, so those are best consumed cold. You could warm up some salads/lunches if they are a base of exclusively spinach or kale, for instance (you don't want to heat up spring mix or lettuces).
Optional Heating Methods:
On the stovetop:
- Empty your Thistle container into a medium-sized skillet.
- Remove any leafy greens that you do not want heated onto a separate plate. Heartier greens like kale, collard greens, chard, cabbage, spinach etc. taste great heated, but you may want to remove arugula or mixed lettuce greens if the meal contains them.
- Cook on the stovetop with a splash of olive oil at medium until warm, stirring regularly (around 5 minutes).
- Serve onto a plate and enjoy!
In the microwave:
- Empty your Thistle container onto a microwave safe plate/bowl.
- Remove any leafy greens that you do not want heated onto a separate plate. Heartier greens like kale, collard greens, chard, cabbage, spinach etc. taste great heated, but you may want to remove arugula or mixed lettuce greens if the meal contains them.
- Cook on high until warm (1.5-2 minutes).
- Serve onto a plate and enjoy!
"Muffin" breakfasts - in the toaster oven:
- Take the muffin outside of the plastic container - but OK to leave the paper lining on!
- Heat the muffin in a toaster oven or oven at 350 degrees for 2-3 minutes (may be more depending on the strength of your toaster oven/oven or what is indicated on our label)
- Take the muffin out of the toaster oven/oven and add the cream/jam.
Freezing Thistle Meals:
We do not recommend freezing Thistle products. If you need to reduce the size of your meal plan and you're a local delivery customer, you can check out this article here, which also includes a video tutorial!
Sometimes, our soups may be sent as a frozen product. If that is the case, please consume your soup(s) within 3 days of arrival and do not re-freeze them.
